Family Sets Platform For Forgiveness In New Year
A prominent Hela leader, who wants to make the New Year a year of change, has created a platform for forgiveness and reconciliation in Hela by paying out more than K140,000 in outstanding court bills to his rival candidate without challenging it.
Former Koroba-Kopiago MP John Kekeno said he and his family has decided to start a new life in the New Year and want to forgo the past and the family came out to help him to settle his outstanding issue before the New Year when they got K140,000 from their family trust account to pay for his 2012 election petition court bills without challenging the taxation.
“We do not want to dwell on our past, we want to move on with life by forgiveness and reconciliation. This is the platform my family and I have set for the people of Koroba-Kopiago, Hela and the neighbouring provinces of Southern Highlands, Enga and Western Highlands to emulate,” he said.
He said his family paid more than K79,000 for legal cost for Mr Undialu and another associated cost of K40,000 each to the legal firms on both sides on the Christmas Eve as they plan to go into the New Year without any issues handing over them.
“This Christmas and New Year creates a path or a platform for forgiveness and reconciliation, with the famous saying, ‘being friends-to all and enemy to none. We do not want to dwell on our past but move on with life in the New Year.
“On this juncture, we also want our people of Koroba-Kopaigo and the people of Hela to do the same this New Year.
“Let’s we forgive and forget our wrongs with our brothers and sisters and let’s look at the New year a year of change and prosperity. “I call upon all politicians, public servants, community leaders and the people of Hela to see the New Year a year of change, a year of progress and prosperity.
“We need to work together for the good of our people and our province.
“The New Year must be seen as a year of forgiveness, reconciliation, a years of unity and progress for everyone. “I believe 2019 is a year for prosperity for everyone. Leave the bad habits of the past and look forward for a better way of life,” he said.Mr Kekeno also called upon the people of Koroba-Kopiago and Hela to forgive him if his he had done anything bad to them or if his actions were not good for him.He said Hela is a new province and with the new PNG LNG project, the people should enjoy and harvest the fruits from their resources without complaining and fighting over those benefits.
